What is ZINMET 20MG TABLET?

ZINMET TABLET contains zinc sulphate which is a mineral and also called "essential trace element" because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health. Since the human body does not store excess zinc, it must be consumed regularly as part of the diet. Common dietary sources of zinc include red meat, poultry, and fish. Zinc deficiency can cause short stature, reduced ability to taste food, and the inability of testes and ovaries to function properly.

What ZINMET is used for?

  • Dietary Supplement
  • Supplement to IV solutions given for TPN;
  • Treatment or prevention of zinc deficiencies.
  • Ophthalmic solution used as mild astringent for relief of eye irritation.

Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions including, if you:

  • are allergic to ZINC or to any of its ingredients
  • have liver or kidney
  • Routine supplementation during pregnancy is not recommended.
  • Lactation: Excreted in breast milk. Excessive intake: In healthy people may be harmful.
  • ZINC has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines
  • Tetracycline Antibacterials: Zinc may reduce the absorption of concurrently administered tetracyclines;when both are being given an interval of at least three hours should be allowed
  • Quinolone Antibacterials: Zinc may reduce the absorption of quinolones; ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, norfloxacin and ofloxacin.

  • Calcium Salts: The absorption of zinc may be reduced by calcium salts.

  • Iron: The absorption of zinc may be reduced by oral iron, also the absorption of oral iron may be reduced by zinc.

 

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • It should always be swallowed whole with a full glass of water
  • Take each dose with a snack or just after eating a meal.

If you take more

  • If you take too much  at one time, call the doctor, or go to the emergency room right away

If you forget to take

  • If the forgotten dose is just a few hours late, take it straight away. If it is nearly time for your next dose, then miss out the forgotten one. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose

If you stop taking

  • Do not stop taking this unless your doctor tells you to
  • abdominal pain,
  • dyspepsia, nausea,
  • vomiting, diarrhoea,
  • gastric irritation and gastritis
  • irritability,
  • headache
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
