What IS VALPROL CR 300MG?

  • VALPROL CR 300MG contains Sodium valproate which belongs to a group of medicine called anti-convulsant or anti-epileptic agents.

  • Valprol-CR 300 Tablet is an anticonvulsant medication that is used for the treatment of all types of epilepsies, a brain disorder characterized by uncontrolled jerking movements and loss of consciousness.

Some products that may interact with Sodium Valporate include: certain antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, nortriptyline, phenelzine), certain antibiotics (carbapenems such as doripenem, imipenem), irinotecan, mefloquine, orlistat, other medications for seizure (e.g., ethosuximide, lamotrigine, phenytoin, rufinamide,etc.

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Valporate Sodium tablet may be taken with food or after food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
  • Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water
  • Do not chew or break

If you take more,

  • Do not take more than one dose at a time

If you forget to take,

  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take this if it has been more than 12 hours since you missed your last dose. Wait and take the next dose at your regular time

If you stop taking,

  • Your doctor will advise you how long to take this medicine. Your condition may return if you stop using this medicine before you are advised

Common side effects

  • stomach pain, feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)
  • diarrhoea.
  • dry or sore mouth, or swollen gums.
  • shakes (tremors) in a part of your body, or unusual eye movements.
  • feeling tired or sleepy.
  • headache.
  • weight gain.
  • thinning hair, or changes to the colour or texture of your hair.

Valproate and its valproic acid, sodium valproate, and valproate semisodium forms are medications primarily used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder and prevent migraine headaches. They are useful for the prevention of seizures in those with absence seizures, partial seizures, and generalized seizures.

  • Do not take this medicine after the expiry date
