What is TROPICAMET  Eye Drops?

  • TROPICAMET Drops contains Tropicamide which belongs to a group of medicines known as anticholinergics

What TROPICAMET Eye  Drops is used for?

It is used:

  • to enlarge the pupil of eye (mydriasis) to allow for easier examination of the inside of the eyeball and to relax the muscles in your eye (cycloplegia)
  • before or after surgery on eye

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have glaucoma (optic nerve damage)
  • wear contact lens
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • Your doctor will give you the right dose based on your child’s age and disease
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine it may cause temporary drowsiness, blurred vision and sensitivity to light

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for the treatment of:

  • allergies, asthma or other breathing problems
  • depression, anxiety, Parkinson disease
  • heart disease
  • motion sickness, bladder or gastrointestinal problems
  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you

If you use more TROPICAMET Eye Drops

  • If you use more than the prescribed dose, you should rinse it all out with lukewarm water, see your doctor or go to nearest hospital
  • Symptoms of overdose: flushing and dryness of the skin (a rash may be present in children), blurred vision, rapid and irregular pulse, fever, abdominal swelling in infants, convulsions, hallucinations, or loss of coordination
  • temporary blurred vision, sensitivity to light, pain, irritation, redness, increase in pupil size, increased pressure in the eye
  • dizziness, headache, fainting, decreased blood pressure, nausea and rash
  • psychotic reactions and behavioural disturbances
  • flushing of the skin, dryness of mucous membranes, dryness of skin, irregular heartbeat, decrease in sweating and dryness of the mouth, constipation, inability to (completely) empty the bladder
  • in children : skin rash, changes in behaviour, enlarged or abnormal abdomen (in infants), confusion, excitement, hallucinations, increasing drowsiness, rapid breathing and changes in pulse rate
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Do not freeze
  • The drops are for single use only and provided in single use units, to treat both eyes if necessary. Once opened, use immediately
  • Discard any unused portion
