What is Tricef ?

Tricef contains Cefixime anhydrous 50mg/5ml which is used to treat bacterial infection

Cefixime is indicated for oral treatment of the following bacterial infections when caused by susceptible organisms:

  • Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • Community – acquired pneumonia
  • ENT infections (e.g. Otitis media, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis, Pharyngitis, Laryngitis)
  • Uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections including gonococcal urethritis
  • Uncomplicated pyelonephritis
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Shake well before use If you forget to take this medicine:
  • If you miss a dose of this medicine, do not make up the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time. Take your next dose at your regular scheduled time If you stop taking this medicine:
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without advice from your doctor

Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Aminoglycoside antibiotics,Colistin, Polymyxin and Viomycin ethacrynic acid or Furosemide
  • Nifedipine
  • Cumarin anticoagulants
  • Soft stools and diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Disorders in the form of stomach ache, Digestive impairment, Nausea, Vomiting
  • A reversible increase in liver enzymes
  • Skin rashes (erythema, exanthema)
  • bronchospasm, angioneurotic oedema
  • Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions may manifest as: Facial oedema, swollen tongue, swelling of the inner larynx with restriction of airway, racing heart, shortness of breath (respiratory distress), decrease of blood pressure leading to lifethreatening shock
  • Dizziness
  • Lack of appetite, flatulence
  • Pruritus and inflammation of the mucous membranes
  • Transient increase in urea concentrations in serum
  • Mucosal inflammation, pyrexia
  • Drug fever
  • Hypersensitivity to Cefixime, to any other cephalosporin antibiotics, or a known immediate and severe hypersensitivity reaction to penicillin or any beta-lactam antibiotic or to one of the excipients of this medicine
  • This medicine should not be given to nursing mothers or they should use a breast pump for the duration of therapy and dispose of the milk.
  • This medicine is contraindicated in preterm and term newborn infants (0-27 days).
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
