What is TRESIBA?

  • TRESIBA is a man-made insulin contains active ingredients called insulin degludec

What TRESIBA is used for?

  • TRESIBA is used to control high blood sugar in adults and children who are under 18 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus
  • It is not for people with diabetic ketoacidosis (increased ketones in the blood or urine)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • have an allergy to TRESIBA or any of the ingredients in this medicine
  • are having an episode of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • are drink alcohol or use prescription or over-the-counter medicines that contain alcohol
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding mother talk to your doctor before taking this medicine
  • TRESIBA is recommended for children above 6 years of age
  • Drive or operate heavy machinery, until you know how TRESIBA affects you
  • Tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions including, if you are taking new prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins or herbal supplements
  • It will given to you by doctor or nurse subcutaneously into the thigh, upper arm, or abdomen.
  • Do not inject into a vein or muscle because very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) may occur.
  • Do not inject into skin that is red, swollen, itchy, or damaged.
  • Do not inject cold insulin because this can be painful.
  • skin thickening or pits at the injection site (lipodystrophy), itching, rash, swelling of your hands and feet and weight gain
  • trouble breathing, shortness of breath, fast heartbeat
  • swelling of your face, tongue or throat
  • sweating, extreme drowsiness, dizziness and confusion
  • Store unused TRESIBA medicines in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C
  • Do not freeze
  • Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen
  • Unused medicine may be used until the expiration date printed on the label, if kept in the refrigerator
  • Keep this medicine away from heat or light
