What is TOBACIN?

  • TOBACIN contains Tobramycin which belongs to the class of medications called antibiotics

What TOBACIN is used for?

It is used to treat infections such as:

  • brain and spinal cord, e.g. meningitis
  • stomach or intestines
  • bladder or kidney (urinary tract infection)
  • lungs, e.g. pneumonia
  • bone, skin or soft tissue including burns

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
  • have muscle disorders, such as myasthenia gravis or parkinsonism
  • have kidney problems
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast-feeding before taking this medicine
  • Consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine to your child
  • You may feel any side effects like dizziness or drowsiness so do not drive or operate any machines

Tell your doctor, if you are taking or using other medicines such as:

  • other antibiotics (e.g. cephalothin)
  • amphotericin B (used to treat fungal infection)
  • diuretics  
  • medicines used as general anesthetics
  • medicines used as muscle relaxants during general anesthesia
  • cisplatin (anti-cancer medicine)
  • ciclosporin (a medicine that reduces the activity of the body's immune system)
  • neostigmine and pyridostigmine (medicines used in the treatment of muscle weakness)
  • It should only be given by a doctor or nurse
  • This medicine is given by injection (using a syringe) into a muscle or a vein or infusion (drip) into a vein
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Upset stomach
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
