What is Sodium Bicarbonate 7.5% W/V Injection?

  • Sodium Bicarbonate Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, hypertonic solution of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) in water for injection for administration by the intravenous route as an electrolyte replenisher and systemic alkalizer

What is Sodium Bicarbonate 7.5% W/V Injection used for?

  • Sodium Bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate 5% injection) is an electrolyte alkalinizer used to treat metabolic acidosis, which can occur in severe renal disease, uncontrolled diabetes, circulatory insufficiency due to shock, anoxia or severe dehydration, extracorporeal circulation of blood and severe primary lactic .
  • If you are losing chloride by vomiting or from continuous gastrointestinal suction, and in patients receiving diuretics known to produce a hypochloremic alkalosis
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • Aspirin
  • It will given to you by doctor or nurse under supervision .
  •  metabolic alkalosis (associated with muscular twitchings, irritability and tetany)
  • hypernatremia.
  • Store in a refrigerator (15 - 25°C). Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of the reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after expiry date
