What is SERENACE?

  • It contains Haloperidol Decanoate (5mg).

What is SERENACE used for?

  • Serenace Injection 1ml is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. It is also used to treat psychosis, mania, severe behavior problems, and Tourette syndrome (chronic multiple motor and vocal problems and involuntary responses) in adults and children.

Before you take this vaccine, tell the health care professional if you have:

  • breast cancer.
  • thyrotoxicosis crisis.
  • untreated decreased level of thyroid hormones.
  • low amount of magnesium in the blood.
  • low amount of potassium in the blood.
  • very low levels of granulocytes, a type of white blood cell.
  • low levels of white blood cells.
  • Serenace Injection 1ml may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
  • Serenace Injection 1ml is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
  • Some products that may interact with this drug include: anticholinergic medications (for example, antispasmodics such as belladonna alkaloids, scopolamine), "blood thinners" (including anticoagulants such as warfarin and heparin), cabergoline, ketoconazole, lithium, methyldopa, drugs for Parkinson's disease
  • Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.
  • Abnormality of voluntary movements
  • Constipation
  • Dryness in mouth
  • Increased prolactin level in blood
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing)
  • Sleepiness
  • Tremor
  • Urinary retention
  • Weight gain
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after expiry
  • Store in original package to protect from light
  • keep at refrigerator at temperature (15 to 25°C)
