What is protogyl DF tablet?

Protogyl DF contains Metronidazole (As Benzoate) IP 100mg + Diloxanide Furoate BP 125mg/5ml which  belongs to a group of medicines called antibacterials which is used to treat infections

It is used to treat:

  • Certain bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach or intestines, liver, skin, joints, brain, heart, and respiratory tract
  • Stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori
  • Parasitic diseases
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you Shake well before use Take this medicine by mouth If you forget to take this medicine:
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Don't take a double dose to make up for a missed dose If you stop taking this medicine:
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Warfarin
  • Lithium
  • Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Primidone
  • 5-fuorouracil
  • Busulfan
  • Ciclosporin or Tacrolimus
  • Disulfiram

Dizziness, headache, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, or metallic taste in your mouth may occur.

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Allergic to metronidazole, Nitroimidazoles or Any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • Have liver problems
  • Have a disease of the nervous system
  • Are having haemodialysis
  • Are affected by Cockayne syndrome
  • Stomach pain, Anorexia, Nausea, Vomiting, Fever, Malaise, Fatigue, Jaundice, Dark urine, Putty or Mastic coloured stools or itching
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. You should not take Metronidazole if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding
  • Alcohol is not recommended while taking this medicine and for 48 hours after finishing the course of tablets, as this might cause unpleasant side-effects, such as feeling or being sick, stomach pain, hot flushes, palpitations and headache
  • This medicine may make you feel drowsy, dizzy, confused or affect your vision, cause fits or hallucinations. If this happens, do not drive or operate any machinery
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
