What is PLATICIN 50MG?

  • PLATICIN 50MG contains cisplatin which belongs to group of medicines called anti-cancer drugs

What PLATICIN 50MG is used for?

It is used treat tumour of:

  • testis
  • ovary
  • bladder
  • head and neck epithelium
  • lung
  • cervix

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have severe kidney disease
  • have hearing difficulties
  • have very low numbers of blood cells (myelosuppression)
  • are dehydrated
  • need to have a vaccine for (yellow fever)
  • have any symptoms of nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) like pins and needles, numbness or poor sense of touch
  • have or had radiation therapy to your head
  • Due to the possible risk of birth defects female patients should take contraceptive measures both during treatment with cisplatin and for at least six months after treatment has ended
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • Your doctor will decide your dose according to your child age and body weight.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you experience any side effect which may lessen your ability to do so

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, amphotericin B (used to treat infections)
  • ifosfamide, bleomycin, methotrexate, paclitaxel (used to treat cancer)
  • oral anticoagulants (used to treat blood clots)
  • antihistamines (used to treat allergies, cold)
  • phenytoin (used for the treatment of convulsions)
  • This medicine should only be given by a doctor
  • decrease in bone marrow function (affects the production of blood cells), decrease in white blood cells (leukopenia)
  • decrease in blood platelets, increases the risk of bruising and bleeding (thrombocytopenia)
  • reduction of red blood cells which can cause weakness and your skin to look pale (anemia)
  • reduced level of sodium in the blood
  • high temperature
  • severe pain or swelling in either of your legs, chest pain or difficulty breathing (possibly indicating harmful blood clots in a vein)
  • fast, irregular or slow heart beats
  • sepsis (blood poisoning)
