What is ORNIDA?

  • ORNIDA contains Ornidazole which belongs to a group of medicines called antiprotozoals

What ORNIDA is used for?

It is used to:

  • treat vaginal, urinary tract and intestinal infections
  • guard against the possibility of these types of infections during surgery (prophylaxis)

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have any other health problems such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis or liver disease
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Your doctor will give the right dose based on your child’s age and body weight
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine as it may cause drowsiness, dizziness and lightheaded

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • warfarin (used to treat blood clots)
  • vecuronium bromide (used to relax muscles)
  • Your doctor or nurses will give this medicines to you.
  • rigidity
  • poor coordination
  • seizures
  • loss of consciousness
  • allergic reaction such as: severe skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles
  • sleepiness/tiredness
  • headache, nausea or vomiting
  • dizziness or vertigo (a spinning sensation)
  • tremor
  • taste disturbances
  • numbness or tingling in your fingers or toes
