What is MYOSTIGMIN?

  • MYOSTIGMIN contains Neostigmine which belongs to a group of medicines called anticholinergics.

What MYOSTIGMIN is used for?

It is used:

  • For the treatment of myasthenia gravis, a disease in which the muscles are weak and tire easily.
  • When the normal movements of the intestine are absent and for the treatment of urinary retention after surgery.

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
  • suffer from asthma
  • have a stomach ulcer
  • suffer from epilepsy (fits)
  • suffer from Parkinson’s disease
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Consult your doctor before giving this medicine to your children.
  • It does not usually affect your ability to drive or use machines. If they make you feel ill, wait until the symptoms have worn off before driving or using machines.
  • Phenothiazines (chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, mesoridazine, thioridazine)
  • Antiparkinson drugs (selegiline, rasagiline,  safinamide)
  • Tricyclic antidepressants ( Amitriptyline, Amoxapine, Desipramine, Protriptyline.Trimipramine)
  • Potassium chloride
  • Digoxin, Diltiazem, Verapamil
  • Aminoglycosides, Clindamycin, Colistin, Cyclopropane
  • Your doctor or nurses will give this medicine to you. Kindly donot self administer.
  • New or increased muscle cramps/weakness/twitching
  • New or increased difficulty swallowing
  • Slow/fast/irregular heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headache
  • Seizures
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Increased saliva/mucus
  • Decreased pupil size
  • Increased urination
  • Increased sweating or cold sweat
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Gas
  • Warmth or tingly feeling
  • Rash or itching
  • Excessive Saliva Production
  • Excessive Sweating
  • Stomach Cramps
  • Sudden wheeziness
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Swelling of the eyelids, face or lips
  • Rash or itching
  • Slow Heartbeat
  • Abnormal Heart Rhythm
  • Low Blood Pressure
