What is Muroc ointment?

Mupirocin 2.0 % w/w is active ingredient which is an antibiotic that prevents bacteria from growing on your skin which is used to treat certain skin infections. It works by preventing and stopping the growth of certain bacteriaon your skin.

It is used to treat:

  • Skin infections such as impetigo
  • Always apply this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This is for use on the skin (topical)
  • Do not use this medicine in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina (mucosal surfaces)
  • Apply a small amount of this medicine, with a cotton swab or gauze pad, to the affected area
  • It is important that you use the full course of this medicine
  • Do not stop early because your symptoms may disappear before the infection is fully cleared
  • Wash your hands before and after applying this medicine
  • After applying this medicine, you may cover the treated area with a clean gauze pad, unless your healthcare provider has told you to leave it uncovered
  • Please inform your doctor in case, if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines
  • Application site hypersensitivity reactions including urticaria, Pruritus, Erythema, Burning sensation, Contact dermatitis, Rash
  • Allergic to mupirocin calcium, mupirocin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • History of kidney disease
  • If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • If you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • If a cracked nipple is being treated, the cream must be thoroughly washed off prior to 
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 1 year
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Do not freeze
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
