What is MONOCEF SB 1gm?

  • MONOCEF SB contains ceftriaxone and sulbactum which belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics and beta-lactamase inhibitor respectively. They are used to treat bacterial infections.

What MONOCEF SB 1gm is used for?

It is used:

  • In the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections.
  • Acute bacterial otitis media
  • Skin structure infections
  • Urinary tract infections(UTI)
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Mengitis
  • Resistant typhoid
  • Sexually trasmitted disease (STD)
  • Surgical prophylaxsis
  • Bacterial septicemia

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • Have history of anaphylactic hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • Have recently had diarrhoea
  • Have ever had problems with your gut, in particular colitis (inflammation of the bowel)
  • Have liver or kidney problems
  • Have other illnesses, such as hemolytic anemia (a reduction in your red blood cells that may make your skin pale yellow and cause weakness or breathlessness)
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Ask your doctor for advice before giving this medicine to your children.
  • MONOCEF SB 1GM can cause dizziness. If you feel dizzy, do not drive or use any tools or machines. Talk to your doctor if you experience these symptoms.

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • Aminoglycosides (used to treat infections)
  • Chloramphenicol (used to treat infections, particularly of the eyes)
  • Anticoagulants
  • Disulfiram
  • MONOCEF SB 1GM is usually given by a doctor or nurse
  • It can be given as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or into a muscle.

  • Rash
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Nomiting
  • Upset stomach
  • Blood clots
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Pain or swelling in your tongue,
  • A lump where the medicine was injected,
  • Sweating,
  • Vaginal itching or discharge,
  • Vaginal yeast infection,
  • Anemia,
  • Changes in taste, or
  • Flushing.
  • A decrease in the number of white blood cells (granulocytopenia)
  • Bruising easily and pain and swelling of your joints
  • Itching
  • Pain or a burning feeling along the vein where ceftriaxone has been given
  • Abnormal kidney function test (blood creatinine increased)
  • Inflammation of the large bowel (colon): diarrhoea, usually with blood and mucus, stomach pain and fever
  • Difficulty in breathing (bronchospasm)
  • Blood or sugar in your urine
  • Edema (fluid build-up)
  • Shivering
