What is MOMATE?

  • MOMATE contains Mometasone which belongs to topical corticosteroids
  • These medicines are put on the surface of the skin to reduce the redness and itchiness caused by certain skin problems

What MOMATE is used for?

  • It is used to reduce redness and itchiness caused by certain skin problems called psoriasis or dermatitis
  • Psoriasis is a skin disease in which itchy, scaly, pink patches develop on the elbows, knees, scalp and other parts of the body
  • Dermatitis is a condition brought on by the skin reacting to agents such as detergents, causing the skin to become red and itchy

Tell your doctor before using this medicine if you

  • allergic to Mometasone or any of the ingredients in MOMATE
  • have a skin infection at the site to be treated
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • MOMATE ointment should not be used in children under 2 years of age

Tell your doctor if you are using, have recently used or might use any other oral medicines  or any other products on your skin or scalp that contain corticosteroids

  • Use MOMATE ointment exactly as your doctor tells you to use it
  • Apply a thin film of MOMATE ointment to the affected skin area 1 time each day
  • Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the treated skin area unless your healthcare provider tells you to.
  • It should not be used to treat diaper rash or redness
  • Avoid using MOMATE ointment on the face, groin, or underarms (armpits)
  • Wash your hands after applying MOMATE ointment

If you use more MOMATE

  • If you use the ointment, more than you should, or on large areas of the body, it can affect some of your hormones
  • In children, this may affect their growth and development
  • Contact your doctor for advice

If you forget to use MOMATE

  • If you forget to use your ointment at the right time, use it as soon as you remember, then carry on as before

If you stop using MOMATE

  • If you have been using MOMATE for a long time and your skin problem seems to have got better, you should not suddenly stop using the ointment
  • If you do, you may find that your skin becomes red and you may notice stinging or burning
  • To avoid this, you should speak to your doctor as he will gradually reduce how often you need to use the ointment until you stop treatment altogether
  • too much MOMATE ointment passing through your skin can cause your adrenal glands to stop working properly
  • increased chance of developing vision problems such as cataract and glaucoma
  • skin problems including allergic reactions (contact dermatitis) and skin infections at the treatment site
  • burning
  • itching
  • thinning of the skin (atrophy)
  • tingling, stinging, and boils
