What is METOZ 2.5MG?

  • METOZ 2.5MG contains Metolazone which is class of medications called thiazide diuretics ('water pills')

What METOZ 2.5MG is used for?

  • METOZ 2.5MG treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome
  • It causes the kidneys to reduce the amount of water and salt in the body by increasing the amount of urine

Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to metolazone, sulfa drugs, thiazides, any other medications, or any of the ingredients in METOZ 2.5MG
  • have kidney or liver failure
  • have or have ever had diabetes, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, a chronic inflammatory condition), or parathyroid disorders
  • have heart disease
  • are having surgery, including dental surgery
  • If you become pregnant while taking metolazone, consult your doctor immediately
  • Consult your doctor for advice if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or are breast feeding before taking this medicine
  • It is not recommended for children under 6 years of age
  • You should know that medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy
  • Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you

Tell your doctor if you take other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take such as:

  • anticoagulants such as warfarin
  • aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen, corticotropin
  • digoxin
  • furosemide
  • insulin or other medications for diabetes
  • lithium medications for asthma and colds
  • medications for pain or seizures
  • methenamine
  • oral steroids such as dexamethasone, methylprednisolone and prednisone
  • tranquilizers
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Taken by mouth
  • Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand
  • Take metolazone exactly as directed
  • Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of metolazone and gradually increase your dose, depending on your response to this medication

If you take more METOZ 2.5MG

  • Do not take more than directed. If you accidentally take more consult your doctor immediately

If you forget to take METOZ 2.5MG

  • If a dose is missed, do not take a double dose; just carry on with the next recommended dose when it is due

If you stop using  METOZ 2.5MG

  • Consult your doctor before stop taking METOZ 2.5MG
  • dry mouth, dark urine, decreased sweating, dry skin, and other signs of dehydration
  • chest pain, rapid, irregular, or pounding heartbeats
  • hives, rash, itching
  • blistering or peeling skin
  • swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • hoarseness, difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • sore throat with fever
  • unusual bleeding or bruising, upset stomach
  • extreme tiredness, loss of appetite
  • pain in the upper right part of the stomach
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • flu-like symptoms
  • dizziness
  • weakness
  • restlessness
  • headache
  • muscle cramps
  • joint pain or swelling
  • constipation
  • diarrhoea

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
