What is METLOC 25MG?

Metoloc 25mg contains Metoprolol Tartrate which belongs to a class of beta-blockers. This drug is used to lower the heart rate and to reduce high blood pressure.

What Metloc 25 is used for?

  • Treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain)
  • Treatment of Arrhythmia
  • Prevention of Heart attack
  • Prevention of Migraine

Tell your doctor, if you

  • are allergic to METLOC  or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a slow heart rate,
  • severe circulation problems,
  • severe heart failure,
  • low blood pressure.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

  • Metoprolol can affect patient's ability to drive and operate machinery. It should be taken into account that occasionally dizziness and fatigue may occur. Patient should be warned accordingly. If affected, patients should not drive or operate machinery.

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • Anaesthetic drugs may attenuate reflex tachycardia and increase the risk of hypotension.
  • It may be necessary to adjust the dose of the hypoglycaemic agent in labile or insulin-dependent diabetes.
  • Tricyclic antidepressants, barbiturates and phenothiazines as well as other antihypertensive agents may increase the blood pressure lowering effect.
  • Always take METLOC exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This medicine can be used before or after food
  • You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a drink of water
  • Do not take METLOC with grapefruit juice.

If you take more METLOC tablets

  • If you have taken too much METLOC, contact your nearest hospital casualty department

If you forget to take METLOC tablets

  • If you forget to take a tablet, leave out that dose completely
  • Take your next dose at the right time
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking METLOC tablets

  • Consult your doctor before you stop taking this medicine
  • Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing)
  • Slow heart rate
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea
  • Breathlessness
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not use your tablets after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)

METLOC 25mg Tablet is a short-acting beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.
