What is KOFTAB-D TABLET?

KOFTAB-D is a combination of Dextromethorphan 30 mg + Phenylephrine 10 mg + Triprolidine 5 mgwhich is used as Cough Suppressant.

What KOFTAB-D is used for?

  • Dry cough,
  • Chest congestion, and
  • Stuffy nose symptoms caused by the common cold, flu, allergies, hay fever, or other breathing illnesses (e.g., sinusitis, bronchitis).

Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions including, if you:

  • are allergic to any of its ingredients (Dextromethorphan,Phenylephrine,Triprolidine )
  •  have asthma, heart disease, angle-closure glaucoma, urinary retention, epilepsy.
  • have renal or hepatic impairment
  • history of angina,  thyroid disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Children under 12 years of age should not use phenylephrine for nasal congestion associated with colds and hay fever.
  • Undesirable effects such as dizziness, vertigo, drowsiness, fatigue, visual disturbances are possible after taking KOFTAB-D. If affected, patients should not drive or operate machinery.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including:

  • benzodiazepines,
  • diuretics eg. frusemide
  • alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives, antipsychotics
  • atropine and some antidepressants (both tricyclics and MAOIs)
  • amiodarone, haloperidol,

 

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This medicine can be swallowed with a whole glass of water
  • Do not crush or chew the medicine

 If you take more KOFTAB-D

  • If you take too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take KOFTAB-D

  • If you forget to take your medicine, take it as soon as you remember then continue to take it at the usual times
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking KOFTAB-D

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells to do so
  • Drowsiness, 
  • Dizziness, 
  • Headache, 
  • Dry mouth, thickened respiratory tract secretions, 
  • Urinary difficulty or retention,
  • Constipation, increased gastric reflux,
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • Protect from sunlight
  • Do not take this medicine after the expiry date
