What is HISONE 10mg?

  • HISONE 10MG contains Hydrocortisone which belongs to the group of medicine called corticosteroids. Hydrocortisone is used to treat adrenocortical deficiency, swelling and inflammation, and to slow down your immune system.

What HISONE 10mg is used for?

it is used for:

  • rheumatic disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis
  • eye conditions, such as severe allergic and inflammatory conditions
  • stomach or intestinal disorders, such as ulcerative colitis and intestinal swelling
  • collagen disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus
  • endocrine disorders, such as thyroid inflammation
  • respiratory disorders, such as Loeffler’s syndrome or inflammation of the lung due to beryllium or aspiration
  • infections, such as tuberculosis, meningitis in tuberculosis, and roundworm infections
  • adrenocortical deficiency
  • swelling and inflammation.

Before taking hydrocortisone talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have:

  • High blood pressure
  • Infection
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma
  • Stomach or intestinal problem
  • Liver disease
  • Thyroid problem
  • Mental health problem
  • Congestive health failure
  • Cushing syndrome
  • Low potassium
  • Ocular herpes simplex

 

  • For pregnant women: Taking hydrocortisone while you are pregnant may harm your pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you’re pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Hydrocortisone should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk.
  • For women who are breastfeeding: Taking hydrocortisone while you are breastfeeding may harm your breastfed child. Tell your doctor if you’re breastfeeding. You may need to decide whether to stop breastfeeding or stop taking hydrocortisone.
  • For children: Hydrocortisone can delay growth and development in children and infants. Your doctor will monitor your child’s height and weight if they take this medication.
  • Hydrocortisone may have minor influence on your ability to drive and use machines. Extreme tiredness and episodes of short-lasting dizziness (vertigo) have been reported. Poorly treated or untreated adrenal insufficiency reduces your ability to concentrate and will affect your ability to drive and use machines. It is therefore important to take this medicine as directed by your doctor when driving or using machines. If you are affected do not drive or use machines, until you have discussed the issue with your doctor.

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:

  • anticoagulants such as warfarin (medicines used to thin the blood)
  • salicylates such as aspirin
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, diclofenac or naproxen (medicines used to treat mild to moderate pain)
  • cough and cold medicines that contain a decongestant called ephedrine
  • medicines for diabetes (including insulin)
  • erythromycin (a medicine used to treat bacterial infections)
  • an oral contraceptive pill
  • somatropin (a type of growth hormone)
  • acetazolamide (a medicine used to treat glaucoma)
  • amphotericin or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • mifepristone (a medicine used to assist medical termination of pregnancy)
  • diuretics (water tablets)
  • carbenoxolone (a medicine used to treat ulcers)
  • methotrexate (a medicine used to treat rheumatoid arthritis)
  • medicines used to treat epilepsy such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine and primidone
  • rifabutin and rifampicin (antibiotics used to treat TB)
  • aminoglutethimide (a medicine used in the treatment of cancer)
  • cardiac glycosides such as digoxin (used to treat heart failure and irregular heartbeat)
  • theophylline and sympathomimetics such as bambuterol, fenoterol, formoterol, ritodrine, salbutamol, salmeterol and terbutaline (used to treat asthma and other breathing problems)
  • antihypertensives (medicines used to treat high blood pressure).
  • Take as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Hydrocortisone oral tablet is used for short-term or long-term treatment.
  • How long you take it will depend on the condition you’re treating.
  • Allergic reactions. Symptoms can include:
    • skin rash
    • itching
    • hives
    • swelling of your face, lips, or tongue
    • breathing problems
  • Infection. Symptoms can include:
    • fever
    • sore throat
    • sneezing
    • cough
    • wounds that won’t heal
    • pain when urinating
  • Mental changes, such as:
    • depression
    • mood swings
  • Stomach problems, including:
    • vomiting
    • severe stomach pain
  • Central serous chorioretinopathy. Symptoms can include:
    • distorted vision
    • blind spot in your line of vision
    • objects looking smaller or farther away than they really are
  • Epidural lipomatosis. Symptoms can include:
    • fatty deposits on your back
    • back pain
    • weakness or numbness in your legs or feet
  • Pheochromocytoma crisis. Symptoms can include:
    • high blood pressure
    • rapid heartbeat
    • excessive sweating
    • severe headache
    • tremors
    • paleness in your face
  • Pain in your hips, back, ribs, arms, shoulders, or legs
  • High blood sugar. Symptoms can include:
    • passing urine more often than usual
    • increased thirst
    • feeling hungrier than normal
  • Feeling unusually weak or tired
  • Swelling of your feet or lower legs
  • Seizures

The more common side effects of hydrocortisone include:

  • headaches
  • muscle weakness
  • skin problems such as acne or thin, shiny skin
  • Diabetes
  • A Hormone Disorder Where The Body Produces High Levels Of Cortisol Called Cushing's Syndrome
  • Low Amount Of Calcium In The Blood
  • High Levels Of White Blood Cells
  • Bleeding Of The Stomach Or Intestines
  • Thin Fragile Skin
  • Kaposi's Sarcoma
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Insufficiency Of The Hypothalamus And Pituitary Gland
  • An Increased Sodium Level In The Blood
  • Low Amount Of Potassium In The Blood
  • Anemia
  • Large Purple Or Brown Skin Blotches
  • Mental Problems From Taking The Drug
  • Paranoia
  • Pseudotumor Cerebri, A Condition With High Fluid Pressure In The Brain
  • A Disease With Shrinking And Weaker Muscles Called Myopathy
  • Increased Pressure In The Eye
  • Overactive Thyroid Gland
  • A Condition With Low Thyroid Hormone Levels
  • Blurred Vision
  • Optic Disk Edema
  • Absence Of Menstrual Periods
  • A Problem With Menstrual Periods
  • Hirsutism, A Condition Of Hair Growth On Parts Of The Body Normally Without Hair
  • keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Donot use this medicine after expiry
  • Store in original package to protect from light
  • keep at room temperature (15-25°C)
