What is GESTOFIT 100MG?

  • GESTOFIT 100MG contains a hormone called progesterone

What GESTOFIT 100MG is used for?

GESTOFIT 100MG is used to

  • reduce the symptoms of the menopause
  • It is used only in women who still have a womb (uterus)
  • It is not used as a contraceptive

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to progesterone or any other ingredients of this medicine.
  • have unusual vaginal bleeding
  • have high blood pressure
  • have a medical condition that causes bleeding
  • have severe liver problems or jaundice
  • have ever had breast or endometrial cancer
  • have a miscarriage and your physician suspects some tissue is still in the uterus or pregnancy outside of the womb
  • have colitis (inflammation of the colon causing frequent attacks of diarrhoea with mucous or blood)
  • have problems controlling your bowel movements (faecal incontinence)
  • have epilepsy
  • have migraine or eye problems
  • have asthma
  • have diabetes
  • Do not take GESTOFIT 100MG if you are pregnant or might become pregnant
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are breast-feeding
  • GESTOFIT 100MG is not for use in children and adolescents
  • You may feel sleepy or dizzy while taking GESTOFIT 100MG
  • If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine medicines used for epilepsy
  • rifampicin, rifabutin used for tuberculosis
  • nevirapine, efavirenz, nelfinavir used for HIV infection
  • bromocriptine used for problems with the pituitary gland or parkinson’s disease
  • cyclosporin used to suppress the immune system
  • ketoconazole used for fungal infections
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • The recommended dose is 200 mg daily at bedtime, for twelve days in the last half of each therapeutic cycle (beginning on Day 15 of the cycle and ending on Day 26)
  • Take this medicine by mouth
  • Swallow the medicine whole with a glass of water
  • Take this medicine at bedtime
  • Take two medicines at bedtime on days 15 to 26 of your 28- day cycle

If you take more GESTOFIT 100MG

  • If you take more GESTOFIT 100MG than you should, talk to your doctor or go to a hospital

If you forget to take GESTOFIT 100MG

  • If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it
  • However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking GESTOFIT 100MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine before doctor tells to do

  • amenorrhoea
  • intercurrent bleeding
  • headaches
  • drowsiness, dizziness
  • vomiting, diarrhoea
  • constipation
  • cholestatic jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
  • pruritus (intense itching), acne
  • nausea
  • depression
  • urticaria (itchy eruption of the skin)
  • chloasma (patchy brown or dark brown skin discoloration)

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
