What is GEMCAL?

GEMCAL contains Calcitriol and Calcium citrate which is indicated in the effective management of:

  • calcium deficiency
  • calcium supplementation during growth, pregnancy, and lactation

What GEMCAL is used for?

GEMCAL contains the below mentioned components, which have the following uses:

Calcitriol (Vitamin D3):

  • It is the active form of vitamin D3, which increases the intestinal absorption of calcium. Helps to reduce high levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) (caused by calcium deficiency), and improves bone resorption 

Calcium Citrate:

  • It is necessary mainly for bone formation and maintenance, and helps to improve symptoms of bone and joint conditions, arising from calcium deficiency

Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients in the medicine
  • have hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, hypervitaminosis D
  • have primary hyperparathyroidism
  • suffer from nephrolithiasis/nephrocalcinosis, renal failure
  • have any other chronic or acute medical conditions
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using GEMCAL
  • Ask your doctor for advice before giving GEMCAL to your children
  • GEMCAL will usually not affect your ability to drive and use machines

Tell your doctor before taking GEMCAL, if you are taking any other medicine including medicines obtained without prescription or any other supplements or herbal products.

  • Always take GEMCAL exactly as your health care provider has told you
