What is GAT 500MG?

  • GAT 500MG contains Tinidazole which is an anti-infective agent

What GAT 500MG is used for?

It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including:

  • infections of the skin, blood, chest, lung, genitals or womb lining
  • an infection associated with stomach ulcers in combination with other drugs
  • infections caused by organisms called protozoa, such as amoebiasis and giardiasis (stomach infections) and trichomoniasis (a genital infection)
  • vaginal infections (vaginitis) and gum infections (gingivitis)

It is also used before certain surgical operations to prevent bacterial infections developing.

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have or had a history of blood disorders
  • have central nervous system (CNS) disease (epilepsy)
  • have abnormal neurological signs develop like dizziness, vertigo, difficulty in controlling movements
  • This medicine is not recommended if you are in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy or are trying to become pregnant and in breast feeding as small amounts can pass into your milk
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • This medicine is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine as it may cause drowsiness, numbness or weakness (problems with co-ordination or sensation)

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • warfarin (used to prevent blood clots)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Take this medicine with a glass of water during or after a meal
  • It is best to take the medicine at the same time each day

If you take more GAT 500MG

  • If you take too much of this medicine, tell your doctor or go to nearest hospital

If you forget to take GAT 500MG

  • If you forget to take this medicine take it as soon as you can. Take your next dose at the right time
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking GAT 500MG

  • Do not stop taking the medicine unless your doctor tells to do so
  • nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, stomach pain or cramps
  • headache
  • vertigo
  • skin rash or itching (especially affecting the whole body)
  • GAT 500MG Tablet is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging their DNA.
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
