What is Ferofolic capsule?

Ferofolic capsule is composed of Ferrous Fumarate BP 300 mg + Ascorbic Acid BP 100 mg + Pyridoxine HCl BP 3 mg + Folic Acid BP 1.5 mg + Cyanocobalamin BP 15 mcg

What is Ferofolic capsule used for?

Ferofolic capsule is used for following conditions:

  • Compensation of blood loss occurring due to menstruation,blood donation and use of anti-inflammatory drugs that cause blinding from the gastric mucosa.
  •  Pregnancy – meeting greater demand.
  •  Megaloblastic Anaemia
  • Sideroblastic Anaemia

One capsule daily after meal or as directed by the Physician

  • Side effects of iron include heartburn, nausea, upper gastric discomfort, constipation and diarrhea.
  • Folic acid has no recognizable toxicity Cyanocobalamine has no significant toxicity
  • Large doses of ascorbic acid are reported to cause diarrhea and other gastro-intestinal disturbances and are associated with the formation of renal calcium oxalate calculi. Ascorboic acid should be given with care to patients with hyperoscaluria.
  • Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
  • This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: certain metabolic disorders (e.g., hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis).
  • If your particular brand of iron supplement also contains folic acid, be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have vitamin B12 deficiency (pernicious anemia) before taking it.

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Keep this medicine out of reach of children

-Do not use this medicine after the expiry date

-Store in the original package to protect from light

-Keep at room temperature (15-25°C)
