What is EURYTHMIC 50MG?

  • EURYTHMIC 50MG contains active ingredient Amiodarone which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-arrhythmics
  • It works by controlling the uneven beating of your heart called arrhythmias

What EURYTHMIC 50MG is used for?

EURYTHMIC 50MG is used in the treatment of:

  • uneven heartbeats
  • other types of fast or uneven heartbeats known as atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you,

  • have an allergy to EURYTHMIC 50MG, iodine, or any of the other ingredients in EURYTHMIC 50MG
  • have certain heart conditions (heart block, very slow heart rate, or slow heart rate with dizziness or lightheadedness)
  • have any other problems with your heartbeat and do not have a pacemaker fitted
  • have thyroid problems
  • have lung problems
  • have any problems with your eyesight
  • have an operation
  • are receiving high dose oxygen therapy
  • are due to have an operation involving general anesthesia
  • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant talk with your doctor
  • You should not breastfeed while taking EURYTHMIC 50MG
  • The child’s doctor will calculate the amount of EURYTHMIC 50MG depending on the child’s body weight
  • EURYTHMIC 50MG may make it unsafe for you to drive or operate machinery, you must speak to your doctor or nurse

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.

  • Quinidine, procainamide, disopyramide and sotalol medicine used to treat heart rhythms
  • Erythromycin, co-trimoxazole and pentamidine used to treat infections
  • chlorpromazine, haloperidol and pimozide medicines used  to treat mental illness
  • Medicines to treat depression, such as lithium and tricyclic antidepressants, including doxepin, and amitriptyline
  • Terfenadine, astemizole,medicines to treat allergic reaction
  • Medicines used to treat or prevent malaria, such as quinine, mefloquine, chloroquine
  • Oral anticoagulants e.g. warfarin (used to thin the blood)
  • phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
  • digoxin (used to treat certain heart conditions)
  • Stimulant laxatives such as bisacodyl and senna, medicines called diuretics or water tablets
  • steroids and the antifungal medicine amphotericin
  • Rifampicin (an antibiotic)
  • John’s Wort (a herbal medicine)
  • Cyclosporin, tacrolimus (immunosuppressants)
  • Simvastatin and atorvastatin (drugs to reduce blood cholesterol)
  • Lidocaine (a local anaesthetic)
  • Sildenafil (used for erectile dysfunction)
  • Fentanyl (used for pain relief)
  • Midazolam (a sedative)
  • Ergotamine (for migraine)
  • Beta-blockers, such as metoptolol, sotalol and bretylium
  • Calcium channel blockers diltiazem and verapamil, used to treat high blood pressure
  • Indinavir (an anti-viral drug)
  • Dextromethorphan (cough medicine)
  • Your doctor or nurse will normally give you EURYTHMIC 50MG. It needs to be given as an infusion into your vein in the hospital where the doctor can monitor your progress
  • This medicine will be diluted before it is given to you
  • nausea, vomiting, constipation, and loss of appetite
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Keep EURYTHMIC 50MG out of sight and reach of children protected from sunlight
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
