What is EMSOLONE DT 10MG?

  • EMSOLONE DT 10MG contains Prednisolone which belongs to a group of medicines called steroids (corticosteroids)

What EMSOLONE DT 10MG is used for?

  • It is used to treat various illnesses such as allergic reactions (e.g: asthma, eczema) and inflammatory conditions (e.g: arthritis)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Prednisolone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have an infection that affects your whole body (systemic infection), such as measles, chickenpox or shingles
  • are suffering from a herpes infection of the eye
  • have severe depression or manic-depression, psychoses (bipolar disorder)
  • have epilepsy (fits)
  • have diabetes or high blood pressure
  • have kidney, liver or heart problems
  • have brittle or weak bones called osteoporosis
  • are receiving treatment for a condition called myasthenia gravis (a rare muscular disorder)
  • have ever had blood clots (deep vein thrombosis or thromboembolism)
  • have glaucoma
  • have stomach ulcer
  • have ever had a bad reaction such as muscle weakness to any steroid
  • have or ever had ‘tuberculosis’ (TB)
  • are receiving any vaccines
  • have Scleroderma
  • have blurred vision
  • have cold sores that effect the eyes
  • are going through or past the menopause
  • have cushing’s disease
  • suffer from hypothyroidism
  • have duchenne’s muscular dystrophy
  • have inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease
  • are undergoing immunosuppression therapy for example in the treatment of cancer
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Your doctor will tell you the right dose for your child
  • Your doctor may change your dose in order to use the lowest effective dose, depending on your response to the EMSOLONE DT 10MG
  • If you feel dizzy or tired after taking EMSOLONE DT 10MG do not drive or operate machinery until these effects have worn off

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines such as:

  • medicines for HIV such as ritonavir, cobicistat
  • warfarin used to prevent blood clots
  • insulin used for diabetes
  • carbamazepine and phenytoin used for epilepsy
  • medicines for high blood pressure (such as furosemide and bendroflumethazide)
  • oral contraceptives
  • rifampicin, erythromycin and ketoconazole – used in fungal infections
  • theophylline, salbutamol and salmeterol used to treat asthma
  • ciclosporin used to suppress the immune system
  • methotrexate used to treat a variety of illnesses such as arthritis
  • anticoagulants for example warfarin which is used to thin the blood
  • carbenoxolone which is used for ulcers
  • antacids such as magnesium trisilicate or aluminium hydroxide, used to treat the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion
  • cardiac glycosides for example digoxin which is used to help strengthen a weak heart
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen and indomethacin used for pain relief or to treat rheumatic disease
  • somatropin which is a growth hormone
  • carbimazole used to treat thyroid disorder
  • isoniazid which is used to treat tuberculosis
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water in the morning after breakfast
  • Depending on your illness your daily dose may be between 5 and 60 mg
  • For Adults: 20-60 mg daily initially (higher doses may be required for specific conditions), reducing to a maintenance dose of 5-20 mg daily

If you take more EMSOLONE DT 10MG

  • If you take more EMSOLONE DT 10MG, talk to your doctor immediately

If you forget to take EMSOLONE DT 10MG

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember and then take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose, to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking EMSOLONE DT 10MG

  • If you stop taking the tablet suddenly you may develop muscle or joint pain, conjunctivitis, fever, weight loss, painful itchy skin lumps or runny nose. In some severe cases a drop in the blood pressure may occur
  • puffy, swollen face, tongue or body, which may cause shortness of breath, shock and collapse
  • painful skin ulcers
  • inflammation of the pancreas (very severe abdominal pains)
  • feeling depressed, suicidal thoughts
  • feeling high (mania)
  • feeling anxious, having problems sleeping, difficulty in thinking or being confused and losing your memory
  • having strange and frightening thoughts, changing how you act or having feelings of being alone
  • feeling dependent or addicted to this product

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
