What is DOTAMIN 250MG?

  • DOTAMIN 250MG contains Dobutamine which belongs to a group of medicines called Inotropic agents

What DOTAMIN 250MG is used for?

It is used,

  • in open heart surgery
  • to treat heart disease, heart failure
  • in shock
  • as an alternative to exercise for stress testing the heart

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to Dobutamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • suffer from high blood pressure due to a tumour near the kidney (Phaeocromocytoma)
  • have heart or blood vessel disorders
  • have recently had a heart attack
  • have had a heart transplant
  • have unstable angina
  • have high blood pressure
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Your doctor will give you the right dose based on your child’s age, body weight and disease
  • Do not drive or use machinery if you are affected by the administration of this medicine

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • beta blockers (used to relieve heart conditions, anxiety and migraine)
  • anaesthetics
  • entacapone (used to treat Parkinson’s Disease)
  • DOTAMIN 250MG will be given to you by a doctor or nurse

If you receive more DOTAMIN 250MG

  • If you are concerned that you are given too much of DOTAMIN 250MG contact your doctor or nurse immediately
  • Symptoms of overdose: feeling sick, anxious, palpitations, headache, short of breath, chest pain

[SERIOUS]

  • increased heart rate
  • chest pain
  • heartbeat disturbances
  • narrowing of the blood vessels (vasoconstriction)
  • irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • asthma-like symptoms (bronchospasm)
  • shortness of breath
  • increase in white blood cells (eosinophilia)
  • inhibition of blood clot formation
  • rash, fever
  • inflammation of the vein at the injection site (phlebitis)
  • fast contractions of the ventricles of the heart (ventricular tachycardia)
  • uncontrolled contractions of the ventricles of the heart (ventricular fibrillation)

[RARE]

  • slow heartbeat (bradycardia)
  • not enough blood supplied to the heart (myocardial ischaemia)
  • low potassium (hypokalemia)
  • spots on the skin (petechial bleeding)
  • heart block
  • narrowing of the blood vessels supplying the heart (coronary vasospasm)

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
