What is BETADINE 10%?

  • BETADINE 10% contains Povidone iodine which belongs to antiseptic and cleansing agents

What BETADINE 10% is used for?

It is used to treat,

  • skin infections
  • disinfection of Wounds, cuts, abrasions and burns
  • postoperative wounds
  • prophylaxis against infection in hospital and surgery procedures

Talk to your doctor before using BETADINE 10%, if you: 

  • are allergic to povidone iodine or any of the other ingredients
  • have thyroid problems
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine

  • BETADINE 10% does not affect your ability to drive or use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • benzalkonium chloride
  • bupivacaine liposomal (medicine used to reduce severe pain)
  • lidocaine (topical anesthetic)
  • collagenase
  • lithium
  • fibrin sealant, human (medicine used to control bleeding)
  • Always apply this medicine as exactly as your doctor told you
  • The affected area should be cleaned and dried
  • Apply full strength, as a paint, or soak or spray as often as needed
  • Do not use the dressing longer than 1 week
  • For external use only

If you apply more BETADINE 10%

  • Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital without delay
  • irritation, swelling or redness
  • systemic effects include metabolic acidosis
