What is AZIMED 500MG?

  • AZIMED 500MG contains Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat different types of infections caused by bacteria.

What AZIMED 500MG is used for?

It is used to treat bacterial infections caused by bacteria. These infections include

  • chest, throat or nasal infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat (pharyngitis) and sinusitis
  • ear infections
  • skin and soft tissue infections (such as an abscess or boil)
  • sexually transmitted diseases caused by an organism called chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, If you

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to or any other macrolide antibiotic such as erythromycin or clarithromycin or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
  • have liver or kidney or heart problems
  • have low potassium or magnesium levels
  • have myasthenia gravis

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

  • This medicine cannot be used in children and adolescents
  • AZIMED 500MG is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • Colchicine (used for gout and familial Mediterranean fever)
  • antacids (medicine for indigestion)
  • Ergot or ergotamine (medicines used for migraine)
  • Warfarin or any similar medicines to prevent blood clots
  • Ciclosporin (used to suppress the immune system to prevent and treat rejection of a transplanted organ or bone marrow)
  • Digoxin (used to treat heart failure)
  • Terfenadine (for hay fever or a skin allergy)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • It should be swallowed as a whole
  • Take this medicine either 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal
  • Adults and children with a body weight of 45 kg and above
  • The recommended dose is 500 mg (2 dose) taken together, once a day, for 3 days

If you take more AZIMED 500MG

  • If you take more this medicine, talk to a doctor or go to a hospital straight away

If you forget to take AZIMED 500MG

  • If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking AZIMED 500MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless told by your doctor
  • difficulty breathing, sudden wheeziness, swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching
  • severe or prolonged diarrhea
  • severe skin rash causing redness and flaking
  • rapid or irregular heartbeat
  • low blood pressure
  • serious skin reactions; blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • Protect from sunlight
  • Do not take this medicine after the expiry date

Azimed 500mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that can be used to treat many different infections caused by bacteria. These include infections of the blood, brain, lungs, bones, joints, urinary tract, stomach, and intestines. It can also be used to treat sexually transmitted diseases. It stops the growth of the bacteria causing the infection and clears the infection. Take it for as long as prescribed by the doctor and avoid skipping doses. This will make sure that all bacteria are killed and they do not become resistant.
