What is APNICAF 20MG ORAL?

  • APNICAF 20MG ORAL contains Caffeine which belongs to a group of medicines known as methylxanthines

What APNICAF 20MG ORAL is used for?

  • It is used in the treatment of interrupted breathing in premature babies (primary apnoea of premature newborns)

Talk to your Doctor, if your baby:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to Caffeine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • has liver or kidney disease
  • has any unusual heart rhythms detected or heart disease
  • suffers from seizures
  • has frequent regurgitation
  • produces more urine than usual
  • has reduced weight gain or food intake
  • If you (the mother) are breast-feeding while your infant is treated with this medicine, you should not drink coffee or take any other high caffeine product as this medicine passes into breast milk
  • Consult your doctor for advice before giving this medicine to your child

[DRIVINGMACHINES]

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • theophylline (used to treat asthma)
  • phenobarbitone or phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
  • doxapram (used to treat breathing difficulties)
  • cimetidine (used to treat gastric disease)
  • ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • drugs used to treat gastric acid secretion
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This medicine will be given by a doctor or nurse by mouth or via a gastric feeding tube
  • The exact dose depends on each baby’s needs and response to the treatment

If you take more APNICAF 20MG ORAL

  • In cases of very high overdosage, fits can also occur. If signs of over-dosage are noticed, tell the baby’s doctor immediately
  • serious intestinal disease with bloody stools (necrotising enterocolitis)
  • convulsion
  • allergic reactions
  • bloodstream infection (sepsis)
  • fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • increased sugar in blood or serum (hyperglycemia)
  • irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
