What is AMBRODIL?

  • AMBRODIL contains Ambroxol which belongs to a group of medicines called mucolytics

What AMBRODIL is used for?

  • It is used for the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory diseases like acute and recurrent bronchitis, laryngitis and tracheitis and chronic diseases such as chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to Ambroxol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have had a cough for a long time
  • have asthma or suffer from serious asthma attacks
  • have or have had liver or kidney problems
  • have peptic or duodenal ulcers
  • have primary ciliary dyskinesia with compromised airways movement
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • It is not recommended to use during pregnancy, especially during the first three months of pregnancy
  • It is not recommended to use if you are breast-feeding since AMBRODIL is excreted in breast milk
  • This medicine is not recommended in children under 2 years
  • AMBRODIL has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • codeine
  • dextrometorphan
  • antibiotics such as amoxicillin, cefuroxime and erythromycin
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • It is for oral use only
  • It can be taken with or without food
  • It is recommended to drink a glass of water after administration and plenty of liquid during the day

If you take more AMBRODIL

  • If you take more syrup than you should, consult your doctor

If you forget to take AMBRODIL

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose. If this happens skip the missed dose and take the remaining dose as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking AMBRODIL

  • Do not stop taking this medicine without advice from your doctor

  • numbness in throat
  • numbness in mouth and tongue
  • diarrhoea
  • altered taste in the mouth
  • allergic reactions (including itchy skin or rashes, difficulty breathing, faster heart rate, swelling of the face or throat, swelling of skin)
  • dry mouth
  • abdominal pain
  • fever
  • hypersensitivity reactions
  • heartburn, dry throat
  • rash, urticaria
  • constipation, drooling
  • difficult or painful urination
  • runny nose, dryness of airways

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
