What is ALLORIC 300MG TABLET?

  • ALLORIC contains Allopurinol that inhibits xanthine oxidase enzyme, which is responsible for the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. Thus, the concentration of uric acid is reduced in extracellular fluid, thereby preventing precipitation of crystals in the joints or elsewhere.

What ALLORIC is used for?

  • ALLORIC is used to treat  gout and certain types of kidney stones.
  • It is also used to prevent increased uric acid levels in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy.

Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions including, if you:

  • are allergic to ALLORIC or to any of its ingredients
  • have liver or kidney
  • have diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), unusual diets (e.g., fasting).
  • are alcoholic
  • Allopurinol and its metabolite oxipurinol is excreted in the human breast milk. Allopurinol during breastfeeding is not recommended.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breast feeding
  • Use in children is rarely indicated, except in malignant conditions especially leukaemia
  • Adverse reactions such as somnolence, vertigo and ataxia have been reported in patients receiving allopurinol, patients should exercise caution before driving, using machinery

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including:

  • captopril
  • enalapril
  • protamine
  • ampicillin
  • cyclosporine
  • tacrolimus
  • aluminum hydroxide
  • amoxicillin
  • calcium carbonate
  • cyclophosphamide
  • ethambutol
  • mercaptopurine
  • methotrexate
  • sodium bicarbonate
  • thioguanine
  • theophylline
  • warfarin
  • Take ALLORIC exactly as prescribed
  • Swallow the medicine  whole with at least half glass of water
  • Do not crush or chew the medicine

If you forget to take ALLORIC

  • If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses

If you stop taking ALLORIC

  • Continue to take this medicine as long as your doctor prescribes
  • rash
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • dizziness
  • electrolyte abnormalities
  • blood in the urine
  • inflammation of the iris in the eye
  • sore throat
  • sweating
  • ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

ALLORIC Tablet is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It works by decreasing blood uric acid, which is the chemical that causes gout.

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
