What IS ACEMED 1OOMG?

ACEMED 100MG contains aceclofenac which belongs to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with marked anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation: 

  • osteoarthritis,
  • rheumatoid
  • arthritis and
  • ankylosing spondylitis.

Talk to your doctor if you:

  • are allergic to aceclofenac or any other ingredients of this medicine
  • have severe kidney or liver disease
  • with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking) should only be treated with aceclofenac after careful consideration.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • In women who have difficulties conceiving or who are undergoing investigation of infertility withdrawal of Aceclofenac tablets should be considered .

Undesirable effects such as dizziness, vertigo, drowsiness, fatigue, visual disturbances or other central nervous system disorders are possible after taking NSAIDs. If affected, patients should not drive or operate machinery.

  • Anti-hypertensives: NSAIDs, may reduce the effect of activity antihypertensives. The risk of acute renal insufficiency which is usually reversible, may be increased.
  • Diuretics: Aceclofenac, like other NSAIDs, may inhibit the activity of diuretics. Diuretics can increase the risk of nephrotoxicity of NSAIDs.
  • Mifepristone: NSAIDs should not be used for 8-12 days after mifepristone administration as NSAIDs can reduce the effect of mifepristone.
  • Anti-platelet agents and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This medicine can be swallowed with a whole glass of water
  • Do not crush or chew the medicine

 If you take more ACEMED

  • If you take too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take ACEMED

  • If you forget to take your medicine, take it as soon as you remember then continue to take it at the usual times
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking ACEMED

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells to do so

Some common adverse effects include:

  • gastro-intestinal disorders (dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea),
  • rash, ruber, urticaria,
  • symptoms of enuresis, headache, dizziness, and drowsiness

  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • Protect from sunlight
  • Do not take this medicine after the expiry date

Aceclofenac is a NSAID that inhibits both isoforms of COX enzyme, a key enzyme involved in the inflammatory cascade. Aceclofenac is thought to mainly arise from the inhibition of synthesis of prostaglandins (PGE2), aceclofenac also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, interleukins (IL-1β, IL-6), and tumor necrosis factors (TNF).
